Carmel -> Death Valley -> Mammoth

But first a hotel hair cut

Early morning walk to the beach. Beautiful red glow coming form the sun as it comes up from behind the dunes

Make it stand out

I shot a few rolls of film, while April Slept in

Waking to the aquarium

The Aquarium was too dark for film photos but Carmle wasn’t

We took the 17 mile drive on the way home

A quick stop back home to pick up some flowers

Some Thai tea before the 12 hour drive

We didn’t take any photos between tea and camping, due to traffic and frustration

We set up the tent at 1am in a BLM

Lone Pine California

Death Valley

The First of many camera malfunctions on this trip.

We reached our first and only stop from day one in Death Valley with almost no light. Lots and lots of tasty salt mixing with not so tasty sand.

Death Valley Day Two

I woke up for sunrise and a run while April slept till about 10am

The photos cannot capture the truly amazing colors that I saw that morning. The layers of blue punctuated by red and orange highlights.

I saw some cool sands dunes during the drive in. I didn’t realize they were about an hour away from where we camped.

Time to run my 5K!

This was my turnaround spot. Aprils still wasn’t up by the time I got back to the tent….

A quick desert photo shoot before driving searching for some snow

trying to find a camping site

We got set up right off the road in a few feet of snow

Work up early to take some sunrise pics, but my cameras froze. I’ll have to figure out how to keep them warm if i’m to get some shots.

Our juggling friend joined us for a few hours

Getting ready for a night below freezing

Sunrise:

Getting some soaks in

Heading back to the Bay Area

But not before stopping at this random small town for some great classic Motel signs and some very underexposed photos of rivers
